God expresses to Moses a series of laws governing the social life.
They evoke the foreigner, the widow, the orphan, the assault and battery, the rape, the respect due to the prince, the Sabbath, the rest of creatures once every seven days, and the chemitta, rest of the earth once every seven years, then the parties of pilgrimage.
God promises to expel from the country of Canaan seven nations which occupy him, and warns the children of Israel against any temptation to become allied to them or to adopt their customs.
Moses brings back all these words to the children of Israel, who answer him unanimously: "we shall make and we shall hear all that said God". Offerings are realized, then Moses rises on the mount Sinai to receive the Tables of the Law there. He stays there 40 days and 40 nights
