The Eternal is anxious to proceed to the enumeration of the children of Israel. He wants to know how much they are by tribe and how much they are in all. He wants to know the exact number of his allies, to estimate at their just value those who accepted in the Sinai to submit itself to its orders and who, this very day, are ready to leave under his command.
His alliance extends in each individually. It is the decision of all the children of Israel which will make so that the people of Israel will be or not faithful to G.od. So it is with each of them individually that God was anxious to become allied; to make well, in any member of the community, the importance understand which dressed its treasury stock for the whole people.
